Requirements for Pensionado Residency in Costa Rica
To obtain residency in Costa Rica as a pensioner, the following requirements must be met:
Demonstrate a minimum monthly income of $1,000 from a pension or retirement.
Provide official proof of the pension, with documents translated into Spanish and apostilled if necessary.
You must be affiliated with the CCSS (Costa Rican Social Security Fund) insurance system.
Submit a criminal background check certificate for the foreign person from their country of origin or the place where they have legally resided for the past three years, duly legalized and authenticated or apostilled. For this purpose, the individual must also demonstrate the legality of their stay in that country by providing a certified copy of the immigration document obtained within the specified period.
