Types of Employment Contracts

The employment contract may be verbal (Article 22 of the Labor Code) when it concerns:

  • Agricultural or livestock tasks. This exception doesn’t include industrial work carried out in the field.
  • Domestic service.
  • Accidental or temporary work lasting no more than 90 days, not covered by the previous two points.
  • The provision of work for a specific task, as long as its value does not exceed 250 colones, even if the deadline for completion is more than 90 days.
