With regard to remuneration to be paid in Costa Rica, it is important to note that ‘every worker is entitled to receive a minimum wage that covers the normal needs of their household in material, moral, and cultural aspects. This wage will be periodically set, taking into account the specific characteristics of each job, the particular conditions of each region, and each intellectual, industrial, commercial, livestock, or agricultural activity.’ This is outlined in Article 177 of the Labor Code.
